Title: Opposites Attract
It’s a hug...it’s a blending...it’s like two spirits coming together, entwining but without becoming the other. Shell slices hold the centers and are wrapped with pine needles. It will look good on the wall or on a table.

These garlic baskets are a really popular item. So useful! Made from smoked and/or natural reed. They can hang on the wall and hold garlic, ginger, onions, potatoes, avocados, even bananas. These specific baskets are sold but I can make one just for you; whatever size and color of reed you choose. Are you a household of 1 or 2, or not much of a chef (like me)? You may want the small size. The large size garlic basket will even hold an onion and garlic. I can also make one that will sit on the counter if that works better for you.

This is one of the first gourds that I have grown. I love the markings on it. It is adorned with long leaf pine needles and sage waxed linen. The inside is covered with handmade paper. The outside is finished with wax and the pine needles with bees wax. For that reason don't leave in the sun.

Title: Pods of Fun
These two baskets are delighting in nature. Each is made with pods that a friend collected in Arizona. The black walnut slices are from a tree in my yard. The pine needles are all collected in Florida from the long leaf pine trees. The green on the first basket is Siberian Iris leaves from my garden and the rim has palm inflorescence on the edge. Both are finished with bees wax. Either of these could easily be mounted on a wall. If you like to collect things from nature, you will love these baskets.

My favorite kind of reed baskets are the market baskets. They are so functional --- I carry my stuff from home to the studio in a market basket.
The blue one has cloth handles and what looks like shadows are dyed dark blue that fades into the lighter blue in the center. The other basket is built on a wooden Williamsburg handle. It has seagrass and rust colored reed for decoration. Both are finished with polyurethane, are very sturdy and will give years of service.

Oyster Shell Centers
One of my favorite centers for the pine needle baskets are oyster shells. These two are each based on opposite sides of oyster shells. The left one is made with dyed and natural pine needle with beads and sections wrapped with waxed linen. The one of the right is titled Mermaid's Bowl. It is made with pine needles, waxed linen and sea shells. Perfect for any mermaids you know.
Both are finished with bees wax for strength.
